Founder’s Week at Chicago, speech was the most memorable I have had the privilege to listen to in some time. Just listened to it now on the radio in Spokane, WA. God Bless you Mr. Vischer.
I agree with Phil that there is no longer a clear distinction between good and evil. To teach my son (who is now 18) I had to ban movies, books, video games, etc. which did not clearly make this distinction from our home. But then the problem remained …when he visited other kids in their homes. I could only hope that by explaining to him and showing him books, movies, videos, and video games that make this distinction that he would come to understand on his own the difference between good, and evil.
I also brought him to Church, he still attends. And I brought him to Sunday school…so he could hear it from other adults too.
And I made a conscious effort to surround ourselves with other families who saw the same ….and were trying to teach their children the same. Today, he is able to speak up when he sees evil, but still…he is a teenager. What was as simple as a fairy tale back then….has become more complicated as in…..same sex marriage for example, or medical canibas, or promiscuity in college dorms. The problem with this country (U.S.A.) is that the people here believes that the “majority rules”. That’s the democratic process.
