Phil discusses the “state of the art” of Christian billboards before explaining his new conclusion that life is like a moving sidewalk. THEN the gang launches into a fascinating discussion – based on Phil’s great uncle Einer – about the “idolatry of family” within the evangelical church and whether it’s EVER appropriate to leave your family to do God’s work. Fun, fun, fun!!

I may have a ringing in my ears… but I think I heard a lot of ringtones in this episode.
I enjoyed Skye’s point about the Biblical inseparability of loving God and loving people… that loving God is not something we do in the abstract. I commented on FB / Twitter a while back “Perhaps the most profound thing a man can do for his children is love their mom with abandon.” This is not to say that loving her with abandon is more important than loving God with abandon, but that loving her with abandon is, in fact, a form of loving God and that the two loves combined has perhaps more positive impact than any other thing a Dad can do.
Blessings to you all,

I think Phil is thinking of Boom Boom
Phil’s analogy of the moving sidewalk has occurred to me before but in my version it’s a conveyor belt that gets progressively narrower until everyone eventually falls off. Doctors and other people capable of saving lives occasionally catch people and throw them back onto the conveyor but it is merely postponing the inevitable. The next time someone says they saved a life, make sure you correct them and tell them they just postponed a death.
