Phil, on your synopsis of Gen 1:1, you’re forgetting a key part in studying scripture…”Let Scripture interpret Scripture.” For instance: Exodus 20: 9-11 backs up the Gen 1:1 account relating six days of labor and one day of rest to the days of creation:
“Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”
Also 2 timothy 3:16 states: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
So doesn’t that include Gen 1:1or can we pick and choose what is inspired?
Not questioning the inspiration of Gen 1. Just discussing the current scholarship on interpretation of Gen 1. As for Exodus 20:9-11, it’s clearly a reference to Gen 1. According to my ESV Study Bible notes, it simply means whatever these statements in Gen 1 mean. It isn’t an independent proof, in other words. For whatever that’s worth!
I dont think this has much to do with the topic this comment section is attached to, I can’t seem to message you any other way…the veggie tale episode about robots and future was horrible. Very dissatisfied and highly disappointed with it. Nothing about God till the end. I’m trying to raise my kids as Godly as I can, and even a small part of fighting and arguing robots had an affect in my children. I will be really paying attention and screening this once favorite show. How sad. I really pray more shows are more thought out. Very sad.
And showing a character getting mad at a vending machine??! just disgusting… I am sure there are other ways to show bad days without this stuff….praying for better shows….. Thank you.
I like the idea and what its mission is but the concept is at fault because when your six, five, three yr old kids say this is great but how are they driving a car or boat better yet riding a bike with NO arms, hands, feet or legs. This should make you think about making the characters more realistic. Its already enjoyable and have a great message but not really reaching the kids; some of the message concept is taking away when they try to figure out where are their arms and feet
Phil; I am not a Trump fan or supporter but, …..(you knew that was coming) please quit implying those who do are somehow bad people. This is the system we have, and when it works for your canadate people love it. I remember many of these same atacks on Reagan ( cowboy, used to be a democrat, not qualified, ect). The people I know who do support him, like that he’s not an establishment guy, after all, that establishment provided Dole, Mcain, and Romney. Trump has managed what Romney could not in that he does not look like a rich man but rather a poor man with money. I am conservative and can’t help but wonder why the Republican Party hasn’t heard its members and thought ” what are we doing wrong?” As for the protesters that are somehow his fault, if I go to any rally with an opposing sign and disrupt the speech would I not be kicked out? Had I done that at one of President Obamas rally’s ( I’m a white guy who owns a business) I would be a hate filled racist. No one would ever suggest he change his message to make me like him more. What ever happened to the republicans who lined up with Newt to say they would self limit their terms?
Can you please check the Podcast Archive for Episode 228? I am trying to catch up and view them all but when I click on Episode 228 it takes me to Episode 224.
