… for your dining pleasure. (And no, none of them involve Lego bricks or Duplo blocks or any other confusingly trademarked plaything.)
Some folks have produced their own audio tracks to go along with their animations. If they work (and if they didn't use any music or sound effects that belong to someone else), we'll try to use what they made. For the others, we've got a stock music tag that we'll use. Either way, it's a lot of fun.
This one is cute… with a 3D jelly…

Another nice one rendered in 3D, with a nice soundtrack to boot.

This one is interesting…

Apparently jellyfish go all staticky when hit in the head with an anchor. (Come to think of it, so do I.) Maybe too violent for the kiddos?
This next one involves a CGI jelly, tracked into video footage of the animators kitchen. It's a fun effect.
Wow, the charcoal one is amazing! Very cool.
Wow. wow. Wow… now I can go back to my miserable day (A miserable day that God is definitely in, noonetheless…)
I love them. All of them. So nice. Kitchen floor one is cool. That couldn’t have been easy.
that fourth video is pretty neat! You mean that he used paper for animation?! *gasps*
Looking great!
I like the anchor one. (I am stuck on the ocean theme, I guess.) As for violence…come on, as kids how many anvils did we witness being dropped on Daffy Duck’s or Wil E Coyote’s head? Our generation made it through okay. 🙂
I like them all, but I like the one with the robot the best. I guess because its the new fad of today’s market. The one with the charcoal drawing was pretty cool too but I thought it went too fast I barely saw the name in that short of amount of time.
Ok I am going to retract my first comment on the charcoal animation. It didn’t go as fast as I initially had thought. Thanks Mr. Vischer for sharing these with us.
Those are looking pretty darn good 🙂
I also like the little robot ducky video, pretty cool.
Actually the fourth one was not made of paper. It’s just a 3d animation with a video behind it.
Some very gifted animators worked on these. Much more well done than I expected. I’m even more curious to see what happens with JellyTelly. Praying for you, Phil!
Really cool. I am blown away. Wowie Kazowie. Is this the same was the Veggies are done?
Those are great! I know my kids would love to see how the charcoal thing is done. I don’t think the anchor one is to violent. Just my two cents. Can’t wait to see this up and running.
As with everyone else, I enjoyed them all. My personal art medium is archaic (I am a calligrapher) and so enjoyed the charcoal logo, even if it was only made to look archaic 🙂 I thought the anvil was adorably cute, actually…no jellies were harmed in the making of that short.
Hi Phil,
I just finished your book last week. It was rich with wisdom. Thank you for pouring it out like that. My Chris is reading it, too (he’s in the middle of the end).
I think the one thing I took from this book was relationship with God built on His purposes. I am so glad for the picture that friend sent you about being on your Daddy’s shoulders at D-world. It made me think–as a big picture type of person– I guess the view from His shoulders just makes the view that much better–High Def. on your Abba’s shoulders, it doesn’t get any better than that!
Praying for you and your family.
In His Joy,

PS I like the first one the best–with the soccer ball.
These are great. I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
I like them all, too – A lot of God-gifted folks out there! 🙂
But I’m with Lisa on this: The magic of the Jellyfish is its movement in its mode of transport; water.
If the Jellyfish is out of water… Well it’s not just thinking outside of its box …or fish tank: it’s a mass of dangerous stinging goo that’s, uh… decaying.
Hm.
Where was I going with that?
Do Jellyfish have eyes? Why just one? It just looks like Billy Crystal to me, for some reason. Will Pixar find a reason to sue?

neat stuff. I do however think that keeping the jellyfish solely in the water is actually restrictive and not thinking outside the box and the fun possibilities. besides, it’s a cartoon and if cartoons kept to reality then it would be well, some what boring. just my humble opinion
Oh gosh, no, I wasn’t meaning to sound restrictive. My reasoning for suggesting that there be a tangible, oceanic reference is that there is such an important metaphore behind the whole Jellyfish name to begin with. You know, Jellyfish riding the current ~ and only really being able to get anywhere if the current takes them. I loved that whole symbolism thing! It’s also a really cool message to bring to young people: Submitting to God, His plans and His purpose. Riding the waves of life, baby! 🙂
I don’t draw. But I consider myself to be somewhat creative. I just think that in addition to being goofy and abstract, the logo could also be a little better understood in the minds of the viewers. Goofy is always good! You do have to know your target audience, and if they are thinking the logo looks like Mike from Monsters Inc., how will they get the cool reference behind “jellyfish” in the first place?….just my two cents. I think all you artists who submitted stuff are so talented!
I found this blog while looking up Big Idea on Wikipedia which led me to Jellyfish. As a person connected with children’s ministry all my life (first receiving it, now giving it), I am deeply saddened by what happened to Big Idea.
Now connected with children’s ministry deeply, being on staff this Summer with Dana Johnson Ministries/<a href=”http://www.kcm.org/”Kenneth Copland Ministries, I know that I have been called with dreams and passion into children’s ministry, but I just did not know what to do also being gifted with strong technological skills (BTW: I was teaching adults how to use their computers at <6), I was going in two directions: children’s ministry and technology business, your blog has inspired me to consider both. One thing that is stopping me from is the fear of sinking once I jump in the water pool of “businistry”, even though it feels like God wants me to start right NOW.
