The tour of Jelly continues with a stop at Biola University in Southern California this weekend. Tomorrow I'm speaking to a group of students at the college about the state of the biz (plus a sneak peek at JellyTelly), and then Saturday is the annual Biola Media Conference, which has grown into the leading get-together for Christians in the film business. If you're in the neighborhood, swing by and check it out! (After meeting on the Biola campus for the last 10 or so years, this year's conference has moved to the CBS Studios lot in Studio City. It will feel more "Hollywoody." More "backloty." I'm making up new words today. That's a good thing to do when you don't quite have your money together to launch your new kids network. Make up new words. It doesn't cost a penny.)
I first attended the Biola conference 7-8 years ago, when there were only about 100 attendees. Last year I believe there were more than 700 – a pretty good indicator of the growth in interest in Christian film.
If you missed the Willow Creek conference last week, here's a pic for you…
That's Agnes on the left, and Winnifred on the right, sitting in the big auditorium at Willow Creek. In the world of JellyTelly, Agnes and Winnie are our "Waldorf and Statler." They don't particularly like any of the shows we air. We decided it would be fun if they attended the children's ministry conference along with the other 3200 children's ministry workers, and broadcast their running commentary from the Jumbotrons. (Although Winnie, on the right, mistakenly believed she was attending "Hannah Montana on Ice." She was a bit disappointed to find out she had just driven 3400 miles in a church van to attend a children's ministry conference.)
Anyway, they're just two of a whole mess of new characters we'll be rolling out on JellyTelly. It's gonna be fun…
For those of you praying for our funding to come through so we can get this ship out of port, we had a very good week on that front. No final news yet, but God is clearly at work. Things are falling into place. Stay tuned for more updates, and a much bigger peak at new characters after I get back from LA next week…
(If you don't know what JellyTelly is, start reading from the beginning.)
Enjoy your Hollywoody experience this weekend. I’m sure the backloty crowd will enjoy what you bring. (Hey–there are no royalties on those words, are there?)
Sounds funny! Can’t wait to see the other characters.
That is awesome! I cannot wait to let my daughter know about it (she’s 3 1/2). I cannot wait for the look on her face when she learns about God through different charaters! I think it is great what you are doing for these kids, you are much more of an inflence then I think you wll know this side of heaven.
We continue to pray.
Lisa
Hope you have a wonderful time! We’ll be praying for success and favor!
Winnie did the driving?? Oh dear, how did she see over the steering wheel?
Do ya’ll have a set tour route yet? Please post if you plan to swing through San Antonio, or Austin. : )
Agnes and Winnifred look wonderful! Thanks for sharing that with us! We will continue to pray. We look forward to more sneek peeks!
Kim
Biola is my alma mater! Sadly, I live in Seattle now or I’d be figuring out a way to sneak in somehow. : )
Very cool. Have a blast and congrats on the Briner Award!

Okay, that Mother Teresa quote is going to rock my world.
Whoa! Mother Teresa quote? Did I miss something? I think I missed something…
Hey everyone, don’t forget: tomorrow is Jelly Telly Tuesday! Let’s all be praying!
Congrats on the Briner award!
I was reading an article in the Rocky Mountain News abaout web-viewing, and it wasn’t new info to me—I read all about the future of media here first. Looking forward to more JellyNews (Buck Denver is going to be on JellyTelly right?) In case you are interested– http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/may/04/web-viewing-catches-fire/
Hey, Agnes and Winnie look awesome! Makes me wonder what kind of “people” the other characters will be! Hope you have a good time in LA!
I’m ready for another JellyTelly Tuesday!
Oh, I forgot to add something: I’m loving all the quotes, especially the Mother Teresa one.
One more comment… I was reading the Veggie Tales Review, and they said that they had turned on what was supposed to be Veggie Tales on Qubo, but instead it was some animal safari thing, but 3-2-1 Penguins had been on. Did they finally pull the plug on the show? If so, why did they leave 3-2-1 Penguins?
Macy, I checked the Qubo schedule online and it says that VeggieTales is on after 321 Penguins. wasnt it on before in the past?

I have been out of the blog loop for awhile, but have had fun catching up! The puppets look great! They kind of remind me of the two old gents from the Muppets. I used to love their banter on the show!!
We continue to pray for your funding to come through. Your potential audience numbers are building and anticipation seems high. Look’s like God’s letting everything fall into place. How awesome!
Hey Phil, thought you’d want to know about this, and be encouraged by it:

Thanks, Jonathan. The guy from the Veggie Tales Review probably just had it on the wrong station. I didn’t watch Qubo last week, so I was kind of concerned.
I look forward to hearing Agnes and Winnie’s voices.
Will we get any more character previews soon? I would love to see some younger characters… and so far its good that they’re human… I would want another managerie of animals…. even vegetables would be better than that:)
