And it's working almost perfectly! I say "almost" because we're having an issue where some credit cards are getting stuck if they don't authorize immediately… some technical glitch that Tim is trying to solve as we speak. Tim estimates it affected about 30% of attempted subscribers overnight. Hopefully we'll have that ironed out soon.
So… this is a temporary design for the site. The real site is finally in development (thanks to the funding) and will look better and work better than this temp site. But we wanted you to get a chance to start watching the shows and spreading the word. Give us a few hours here to work out the credit card bug and make sure everything is working properly, then it's time to start telling your friends about JellyTelly. Our opportunity to impact kids and make a difference in our culture is huge – and you all can play a part in this.
Now, obviously we don't have an infinite amount of programming to run on JellyTelly quite yet. As of today we have probably 70 to 80 unique days worth of shows, where various bits and pieces will start rotating and repeating. Some smaller elements will repeat every few weeks, while the larger shows may repeat every few months. Within the next month or two we'll get that number up near 100 unique days. What we need to do then, though, is start developing our new programming ideas for next year, which will require raising additional money specifically for new programming. Raising this money will be relatively easy if we can demonstrate that lots of people are signing up and enjoying the site.
Do you see where this is going? Simple: The more people we can get to sign up, the easier it will be to raise the money to produce a bunch of new shows and games to make the site even better. And that's where you all come in! If you can help us spread the word, we'll sign up more people which will make it easier to raise more money which will allow us to make next year's shows and games and really make a difference in the lives of a bunch of kids.
As you probably noticed, we weren't able to institute the "name your own price" policy right from the beginning due to technology restraints. So we picked one low "flat" price for now, roughly half what most kids sites are charging. If you really wanted to sign up for more, instead just get a few friends to sign up as well! Same result!
All right… I'm going back to check on Tim. Talk to you soon, jellyfriends.
Looks great!
Hey, my bubbles bumper made it in Tuesday’s show! Excited to contribute!
Congratulations! We will sign up after voting today 🙂
This is very exciting- the fruit of your labor!!!
Ecstasy has arrived…
But your final site will seriously need a favicon.
Yeah! All I can say is “Oh my a squirrel!” (and nice work to boople.com on the bubbles bumper)
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Phil, check out this book: “Word of Mouth Marketing”, by Andy Sernovitz. You are using the ideas talked about in this book already, but it might help you guys fine tune stuff. I have used the principles in church marketing, and really…it is a lot of common sense stuff that is modulated to help a smaller start up businesses get the word out there.
Doing the victory dance with you all!!
We watched Monday’s programming this morning before I left for work – Tuesday’s will be tonight. I loved the Bible Investigator segment! Great puppetry!
jellytelly.comIt may be a good idea to add a weblink on this site to the Jelly Telly site. I have been following the Jellyfish weblink for the past couple of weeks and just figured out the difference when I didn’t see any changes today allowing for subscription and payment.
Hey, I just finished your book and it was a great read! As a steward of a business, I can truly relate to the temptations and being snagged by the secular business books and practices of the day. I have also come to the conclusion over the last few months that it only takes flesh (greed, pride, anger, Gal 5:19-21) to demolish a company and it is only by the grace of God that any business succeeds. We (my family – wife and 6 kids) look forward with much anticipation to how God will use you in this season of life – may He bless you more!
YBIC, D
we watched mon and tues. today. We were so excited to see Micheal and Pierre, the fabulous Bentley Brothers and Clive and Ian. We loved them so much from the promo, that we clapped when we saw them. Will Pastor Paul be back? We adored the Hymns that didn’t make it into the hymnal segment. Also, my girls really liked the ending song. We sang it all the way through lunch. Jelly on!
I was part of that 30%, but now I’m on!
Monday was a mixed bag. But Tuesday is great so far. I like the history stuff.
The more puppets the better, I say.
Oh yeah…and more Buck!
My kids have LOVED the new programing and the games are good enough that even not reading kids can kinda play and have fun. Very well done! I’ll get as many friends signed up as possible but if there is another way we can donate to this I’d love to know.
Phil – I have to say, God is using you in huge ways.
Just watched the monday show with my brothers – And I have to say, even with a beta site and lower res video, it certainly touched my heart, and they loved the program.
Letting go.
Thanks for letting go yourself Phil, and thanks to everyone else at Jellyfish Labs too! Thanks for following God – I’m sure that this will be used in massive ways to advance His Kingdom.
Worked great! 3 dollars a month… So much more value than that for SURE.
Our 4yr old has been running around the house fake falling so he can repeat the famous “i’ve fallen” line. Our 2yr old keeps repeating, “Oh no! My beaker!” They’re hooked.
Vote Jelly!
It is great. My 2 year old and I loved it (hubby hasn’t had a chance to tune in yet). I would like to give “subscriptions” to my nieces and nephews for Christmas…could there be a way to do that?
Well, that answered some of my questions. So, other than spread the word, what can we do to help?
Also, what’s the runtime of the Movie of the week (on average)?
Good job phil, we will spread the word!
My children’s ministry would love to give away subscriptions at special events we have for the kids. What is the best way to do that? Can you offer Jelly Telly gift cards?
Jelly Telly is very fun to watch, my sister and me watch all of the episodes as soon as they come on!
Love it! Great job and excited to see what you have coming in production.
Wa-hoo-eee!!! What fun! I’ve visited, subscribed, and posted about it on my blog. Do you have a graphic or button to put on blogs and websites?
The word is out and your network info is being shared amongst different churches in this weekend’s upcoming bulletins, Christian school newsletters, AWANA’s clubs’ newsletters and several MOPS groups. It is being well recieved throughout all the contacts that have been made. Whoo hoo!!
**I do encourage everyone who is spreading the word to remember that not everyone may be as savvy in the tech department, so take the time to really explain what this format is all about. You may still get questions like, what TV channel is it on? 🙂
Anyone else having issues with the video skipping? I have a pretty good internet connection and usually have no problems watching streaming video, but JellyTelly is constantly skipping for me.
My husband, two kids and I all watched JellyTelly together for the first time today. Hooray!!! We loved it. My girls (who are *mega* Star Wars fans) LOVE the top ten films segment!! They’ve been giggling about that one a lot.
If and when you are ever able to make the music available to download or purchase, we would want to be first in line. We’ve been singing the Bentley Brothers song about judges for weeks since we first saw it on your preview. If we COULD purchase that somewhere, we would have already done it by now. 🙂
As we were praying before bedtime tonight and I prayed that God would help us all be ready for church tomorrow, my 8-year-old piped in with, “And God, please help us to watch JellyTelly tomorrow.” It made me smile. We prayed blessings over you, Phil, and over the entire JellyTelly staff. Thank you for what you are doing!
Howdy folks, ditto with the above comments. I am anxious to have access to a CD of the Bentley Borthers.
