Hey… if you're in the Chicago area, I'll be speaking tonight (3/27) at the Imago Film Festival at Judson College in Elgin, IL. Feel free to swing by and say 'hi'! I promise it won't be boring. Learn more at www.imagofilmfestival.com.
Also, check out Buck Denver's latest short at www.jellyfishland.com. It's kinda silly. Cap'n Pete has a kite.
Alas, I’m stuck out here in Kansas City without a car.
Phil! You’re the man. I wish I could be there!
I am a big fan after hearing you speak at Willowcreek Church Promiseland Conference to a bunch of children’s ministry people about two years ago. I bought the CD of your presentation and listen to it periodically to remind myself the message. I just finished your book: Me, Myself, & Bob, and the content of that speech was chapter 21. Excellent! Now, I’m a bigger fan and just purchased your two children’s books. I can’t wait to get them. Thanks for your courageous message. It’s not too many people who will write a book about their failure. Recognizing God in all of that is the positive, and is what keeps us going. God bless you and family, for sure. P.S. You turned failure into success for God.
I want to apologize. I shouldn’t have used the word “failure.” The birth and life of Veggie Tales are certainly not what one would call “failure.” Veggie Tales wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Big Idea. And your book about the struggles of running Big Idea, truly inspiring. I have learned much from Me, Myself and Bob. Thanks for all of it. It is a timely and timeless lesson.
Phil, I was at the film festival last night and heard you speak. I also had the privaledge of hearing you speak back in November at the NYWC in Cincinnati. Both times I have been blessed by your sharing of your story. I am constantly reminding myself not to worry about what I need to do to achieve my goals, but rather to take time to rest in God, trust that he is who he says he is, and wait for his revelation. I now strive every day to live in the center of His will. Thank you for living in the center of God’s will and for sharing with our college community at the film festival.
jellyfishland.com“I promise it won’t be boring.” You crack me up… Wish I coulda been there.
And yes, the Jelly News is well worth the trip this week. Ah, another window into Cap’n Pete’s wacky world. Can’t wait for more. 🙂
Phil, after reading your book I couldn’t help but compare it to reading a David Crowder book. I thought you guys should get together and do something artistically special….
And then i saw THIS
Sorry…more specifically I meant THIS
Heh, why do you taunt me Phil? LOL, am i ever gonna get you to come to georgia…probibly not, huh? Well I’m getting Tom and Rob over here. Having them take a break from their veggie escapades to do a visiting artists for us.
I’m sure you were great. You know I would have loved to be there. Heh, and I couldnt dream of you being anything but boring…wiat did that come out right? Well, youre never boring, ever…weird. yes, stay weird phil. =) Catch you later…hehe you know I’m gonna call on monday, lol.
Any chance you are coming to Atlanta to hawk the book?
Unfortunately, I will NOT be in Chicago anytime soon, but I heard you scored a sermon with my church!!! Yes!
/shoots fist into the air/
I can’t wait to see you in person and hear your story when you’re in the flesh. Many thanks for setting up with my church. I’ll be one of your loyal fans in the sanctuary out there, May 6th. Guess what? You’re on our website! Oh, how cool is that?
I haven’t read the book yet, but it’s on my reading list and I’m sure it’s extroadinary.
Keep it cucumber cool, Phil. You know you rock so hard. Love your work! ^.^ May God bless you and keep you safe!
hey Phil, the link on your website kept bouncing my email back to me. here is what i was trying to send to you though:
I help run an event on our campus called Winter Weekend. It is an event that hosts about 700 high school students and their youth ministers. We are interested in possibly having you teach for the weekend. The dates are January 25-28 2008. We would like to know what the cost and availability would be for this to happen. Thanks for your time. Hope to hear from you soon.
This isn’t really about Judson College, but I didn’t know how else to communicate this to, uh, Junior the, uh, asparagus (how do you spell that?).
We homeschool our 6 year old, who within the last year has discovered VeggieTales. Having just finished a unit on the digestive system in his human body workbook, I had to give credit where credit was due. Everytime the school book said “esophagus,” our son called it the “asparagus.” We don’t actually eat asparagus, in fact he might not have heard ot it for years, had it not been for VeggieTales. (He does however like green beans and sweet potatoes, and he loves tomatoes!)
So, thanks. And pass our thanks along to Lisa. Uh, “Junior.”
😀
So, has anything happened in the past month and a half since then? 🙂
Phil,
I just finished “Me, Myself and Bob” and found myself crying through many portions of it. I had a 29 year career myself in the animation industry starting with Disney and ending with Rich Animation. Although Rich Animation (now called Crest Animation) still exists I no longer am a part of it. I decided for personal reasons to move on. I now live with my wife and our son in Columbia SC. I too had a dream to make a difference in family films and television and the Lord was very gracious to me to give me “the desire of my heart.” I was truly blessed and touched by your transparency. Just wanted to say, “Thank You.”
Blessings,
Terry Noss

I watched that short and thought it was kinda funny. Enjoyed the interesting facts, too. I’m wondering: About how often, periodically speaking, do you plan to “post”, in a sense, the Jellyfish shorts? Thanks.
