Phil and Skye talk about Super Bowl commercials and pastors behaving poorly in Applebee’s. Then they’re joined by author/researcher David Kinnaman for a fascinating discussion about Christians and their views on religious freedom in America. Finally, Phil summarizes with a song. It doesn’t go so well.
David Kinnaman is the president and majority owner of Barna Group. He is the author of the bestselling books, You Lost Me and unChristian.

Another great podcast guys – thank you, and thank you Skye for the quote from Eugene Peterson regarding following the Truth but ignoring the Way of Jesus. That is so insightful.
Great interview
I missed Christian though – every podcast needs a mom’s touch.
I had been able to get the podcast through an app on my iPhone – it switched from the picture of Phil to a robot looking guy with a helmet on a turntable, but it worked – until #38 and now it isn’t there! Having trouble listening through the page – it keeps fading out. Hope this gets fixed soon! Much easier to listen through the app while I’m working out at the YMCA!
“Should Judea Christian values be given preference in the United States?” Maybe if you believe Judea Christian values are better than other systems. You could even argue that there is more freedom for all people under “Judea Christian values.”

What if your religious conviction leads you to subjugate women, own slaves or commit honor killings.
What if it leads your church to taking in homeless contrary to city ordinance?
What if you refuse to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding?
What if you refuse to touch pork or alcohol as a grocery clerk or carry it as a cab driver?
What if your religion has you smoke peyote for a vision quest?
What if your religion insists a wife who takes another faith cannot have custody in divorce?
Are all religious freedoms equal?
I appreciate your willingness to discuss difficult topics without pretending they are black and white but I think it came up short when you suggested all religious values are equal and should be afforded full freedom in the United States.
What rights should a person demand in a majority Muslim country?
