Really enjoyed listening and imaging just how much fun you guys were having hosting it. And I love the picture of you. Nice touch.
That was awesome!! 😀 I think you’re right, Phil, that the money spent on things like the Space Station could do a lot in the way of alleviating poverty. I find it hard to believe that space exploration will ever just end, though. Sixty years ago, the idea that everybody would carry around tiny computers in their pockets was probably ridiculous because it was so expensive, not to mention physically impossible. I think we may be experiencing the primitive beginnings of space travel, and there’s a possibility that it will expand a lot in the years to come. I do live by NASA though, so I could be brainwashed. 😛 Awesome improv at the end!!!
That was perdy kool! Keep making more!!
May I make a few comments?
1. There are a lot of resources in space. However, the business case for human space flight is weak. Humans require life support, and life support in space is hideously expensive. Our robotics technology is growing very quickly.
2. In a away, it doesn’t matter if the Earth is going to end or not. Either way, none may know the hour. So it is prudent to assume it is very far in the future, and that preparing humanity to survive until then is our job. In the same way, it is prudent to assume that it is in the next five minutes, and the time to repent of your sins is now.
3. We do need to inspire young people to learn useful skills. We used to think that “useful” would be primarily big, flashy things like space ships. But these days you can be a lot more useful by finding better ways to organize information and run it on a server somewhere.
bethdin.orgForeign legal systems apply in US courts when they are incorporated into a contract. For example, Orthodox Jews can sign a contract saying that in case of disagreement they’ll go to binding arbitration in a Beth Din. When they do that, if one side sues another in a secular court, the court has to decide if to allow the suite, or send them to the arbitration specified in the contract.
Thank you for the podcast. Hope you don’t mind I treat it a conversation starter.
Loved the episode Phil! Was it intentional that one of the major topics of the episode involved many of the issues addressed in one of your earliest VT episodes: “Are You My Neighbor?” 🙂 Keep it up!
I think you need to get a script for this show.
You guys have way tooooo much fun, how can i come and play?????? I am sooo looking forward to more. Am still playing catch up though. Lots of great thoughts and conversation starters. Question, why can’t what Sherwood Church and the Kendrick brothers be the model? It’s a pretty good start. Would love to hear more on this topic……..
I’m playing catch-up as well. Granted, for me, it’s 5 years later. But I enjoy binge watching. I recently finished catching up with the Simpsons, and Good Mythical morning, so this is a small task for me.
