You should do scooter the carrot for the theme song next week, unless you’ve already done it.
You’ve misnamed the file. The filename says it’s episode 100 still, but it has the rest of the name for this week’s podcast.
Actually, the date in the filename is wrong too.
Great podcast. As soon as the name of Drew Dyck’s book was mentioned it made me think of the quote Drew referenced by CS Lewis.
“Aslan is a lion- the Lion, the great Lion.” “Ooh” said Susan. “I’d thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion”…”Safe?” said Mr Beaver …”Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
? C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
I love this quote, and just to assure Drew that this message is preached, I have preached it in our Alliance Church up here in Canada. I look forward to reading the book. Thanks again for the podcast.
Ok, first things first. Although Drew said them out of order, how is it that when he said, “Bears and tigers and lions,” nobody said “Oh my!” So very disappointing to see a slow, fat pitch right across the plate and no one swinging at it.
That aside, a comment on “Mom’s Night Out”… I took my family to see it on Saturday night, and we really, really enjoyed it. It was fun to watch a very funny comedy with my kids and not have to worry about what was going to come out of someone’s mouth next. Of the Christian films that I’ve seen, I think the quality level of this one was above any of its, er, antecedents.
Regarding the cast list, there are several well-known stars in this movie — Patricia Heaton, Sean Astin, Trace Adkins. But Phil, there’s one very important one just for you that doesn’t show up in the credits. Bob the Tomato! There are several scenes that take place in a very upscale, trendy restaurant. In one of those scenes, my daughter noted that one of the patrons was wearing a red Bob tie. You’ll be rolling in royalty checks in no time!
Love the show. Keep it up!
Hey, I’m new to these parts and enjoying the podcast! What are the ‘talks’ phil refers to in this episode and where can I listen to them? [You know; he talked about Aslan tearing off Eustace’s dragon scales in his talk] Thanks!
No God is not us in steroids, but he does say that he made man in his own image
A few respectful points of disagreement. Having read each of Bell’s works, I don’t believe that he is strictly teaching a “feel good gospel”. In his books God Wants to Save Christians he deals with what God expect of Christians in the world (as well as his association with authors like Shane Claiborne) suggests that he acknowledges that God expects, even demands, certain things. It is just a different take on what those things are when placed against traditional evangelical beliefs. I don’t fall completely in-line with Bell, but I think to dismiss him as “not knowing the gospel if it bit him in the butt” might be over stating the case and being more dismissive than is warranted.
