Very, very good show this time around. I appreciate all you guys do! The article you discussed for the last portion of this episode was very powerful, and part of the impact was the way if affected Phil as he read it. Thanks for that transparency.
Something I’d be interested in hearing a little more about is further explanation from Christian about how her husband talks/-ed about his faith using vocabulary outside the usual Christian-ese that those of us who grew up in church use. Could you provide one or two telling examples of what you mean by that?
Liked the thoughts! I think it may be illuminating though to realize how much time you spend talking about, “Well, they go to a male-centered nerd convention wearing skimpy outfits; what do they expect?” compared to, “Those guys shouldn’t have been sleazebags.” I don’t so much take issue with pointing out that doing something vulnerable entails risk, but when you focus on that almost exclusively and just give lip service to the fact that it’s not an excuse for guys to harass costumed ladies, it turns into blaming the victim for taking a risk instead of holding the people who actually did the problem accountable. It’s easy for me to think I’m just being balanced until I stop and take a look at how much effort I’m actually putting into each side of something.
Also, pressing the arrow keys while I’m typing to move around in the stuff I’m typing keeps jumping to different episode pages. If I’m not the only one that’s happening to, it’d be great if you could fix that. D:
Like the show!
Yet another very thoughtful podcast, thank you! Just in regards to your comments on Tim Keller. There is no doubt he is seeking to engage the mind by deconstruction of the Gospel… but it is with the intent of bringing about sensory experience of God. Tim makes this quite clear consistently, engaging the mind leading to sensory experience of God on our heart. Be in no doubt that experiencing Him in all His glory is what Tim desires for his listeners.
