Listener feedback on “modesty.” Is Phil a voice of reason? Or just another crabby old white guy pining for the past?? Plus Phil and Skye discuss the decline in self-identifying “Christians” in America. Bad? Good? Indifferent? This week on the podcast!

Was trying to listen to this episode on the way to work this morning. Was there an issue with Skye’s mike? Can’t hear him at all on the podcast.
I make Lego stop-motion videos, including several that tell bible stories. I can’t wait to see galaxy buck since I’ve seen all the what’s in the bible videos which were really good!
It sounded like Skye’s mic was turned off.
Interesting discussion about “modesty”. Of course you are treading close to ” she was asking for it”. As I am sure that you’ll be discussing the Duggar situation, I would encourage you to look up the Bill Gothard materials.the Duggars would have used as guidance. Several websites have published this stuff. I can certainly tell you that it exemplifies the dark side of the modesty culture and is very much about blaming the victim.
Why does it sound like Skye is sitting on the other side of the room?
Skye’s microphone wasn’t working properly for this episode.
Rats! Skye’s mic not working. I felt like I was listening to one side of a phone conversation. Lol. Any way to fix this? Would love to hear it.
Check out this link – I am really looking forward to the three of you discussing this next week. Perhaps one of you has a guest you could invite that has a professional view of this. Phil, given your presence in Christian Homes, this is a real opportunity to speak out about this. Growing up Evangelical (I’m what you’d call a liberal now – UCC Congregation) I frequently heard the name Bill Gothard. I had no idea, however that this is the kind of garbage he was selling. Nor was I aware of his own transgressions. This issue might even call for a special Podcast. Girls are simply not responsible for being abused. Modesty certainly has it’s place, but the punishment for dressing like a hooker should be being embarrassed, not raped. Some of the messages in this material border on the criminal. Please make a special effort to address the Duggars on your next podcast. I am a huge fan of yours. We’re dang near identical in age (July 15, 1966) and we have many, many cultural references in common. As a Progressive Protestant, your entertainment was really the only “Christian” entertainment that Mom and Dad AND Grandma and Grandpa could agree on. I know you are well aware of your influence in this area and I hope that perhaps this travesty might spark your imagination about how you might be able to make a difference.
Looking forward to next week.
