This week’s episode rocked! Yes Christian, there are people who actually want to listen to this podcast 😛
I just wanted to chime in on how much this show means to me. I found this podcast over the summer. and have since listened to everyone I could find on YouTube, so I still have a few I have not heard. This week’s officially marks I am up to date! So many things I wish I could comment on as viewer/ listener comments, but knew the time has passed.
A few weeks ago, you all said you couldn’t believe some people listen to the shows twice, well I am in that crowd too. I heard Episode 121, The History of Bob and Larry, right after (pretty sure a God thing) I listened to Phil do a sermon on YouTube, My Life as a Tomato. Episode 121, was kind of like an epilogue to that sermon, and both stuck with me. Long story short, my parents opened a restaurant in 1996 and it closed in 2010, we tried to reopen it in 2013 but due to my mother’s masssive health concerns (diagnosis with 2 types of cancer and ALS all within 2 months) we were not able to reopen. Now I know this hurt my folks more then it did me, I still have my health. However, we were doing this for God, we wanted to be “the light on the corner” as my family often stated. So I just wanted to say how much I appreciate episode 121, and all of your episodes. I can not wait to read your book for more insight on this.
I was put on to this podcast because of Skye though. I saw him speak at the 2013 Life conference in St. Louis, and I was hooked. I searched the internet for every sermon to do with him, and in one sermon he spoke of this podcast. So thanks Skye!
Also I realize I haven’t mentioned Christian at all, except my minor jab at the beginning. I love how you pull the show together, and often bring it back to my level, of what does this have to do with me? Between Skye and Phil’s insight, and rabbit trails, and this Christian, it makes the highlight list of my week. I can not wait for next week!
When Christian said she was surprised to hear someone say they enjoy the podcast, I decided it was time to write in and say how much I LOVE it and how bummed I am when you guys take a week off. (I guess you’re allowed to do that now and then.:)) I also wanted to say that, like Christian, I too was confused about fasting and avoided it most of my life until I read a book called “Fasting” by Lynne Baab (published by IVP). It helped me understand how fasting is one way that we make space for God in our crazy fast-paced lives like you guys were saying. She gives many practical ways to fast other than not eating and draws from Scripture, history and different Christian traditions. I highly recommend it to Christian!
My sister-in-law is Jacquie Steinwand! Cool that you mention her. She lives in Alberta. We live in British Columbia. I often share your podcasts with friends who near to hear thoughtful insights on controversial political and religious issues.
