Russell Moore is President of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention (I’m tired just from typing that) and – as of last week – a new “Enemy-of-the-Trump.” Phil and Skye talk to Dr. Moore about religious liberty and the thrill of being attacked by the Great Orange One on Twitter!

Thank you for this podcast! It has given me a lot to think about and consider. I have heard a lot of church members talk about waiting for God to do what he used to do (revivals in church services that last for hours, good warm and fuzzy feelings, fainting in the Spirit, ect.). I found myself missing the past work of God too. I would get discouraged when today’s services and moves of the Spirit didn’t look like they did when I was little. If it didn’t look the same, then something must be wrong. But with this podcast, I have realized that my focus was in the wrong place. Instead of being focused on the past and how it used to be, I should be focused on obeying God and doing what he is leading me to do TODAY and IN THE FUTURE. Of course I need to continue to pray, preach the gospel, study God’s word, and seek the Holy Spirit’s power to witness. I consider all these obedience to God. But put all of this obedience together with a hope for God doing something new, it makes me excited to think that God wants to include ME in reaching my community in a new way but still with the same powerful good news of Jesus.
It’s funny finding this episode today, I’ve just seen Russell Moore mentioned a bazillion times on my twitter feed today.
This guy transpires Jesus. Phil, with this interview I can get a glimpse of why he’s such a hero for you.
This debate about Christianity and politics has been a hot topic in Brazil as well, especially because the Christian politicians who are on the spotlight seem to be more interested in their “anti-gay” agenda than in the well being of the people in general… Other context alltogether, but completely valid and relevant discussion for me.
More of Russell Moore! 😀
