Should churches remove Confederate flags? Should Americans be more afraid of terrorists, ladders or husbands? Should Wonder Woman shave her armpits? It’s a potluck podcast as Phil, Christian and Skye bring the stories of their choice – and yes, things get a little nutty.

Speaking of John Walton, I would love to hear you guys interview Michael Heiser about his book Supernatural. It’s very into the idea of understanding the Bible as it was understood in its own culture.
facebook.comWhat would you say about our interpretation of God’s revealed truth being limited to our understanding level…our intelectual, emotional, sensorial, spiritual, physical realities are bounded by how much we can make sense of..
here’s my example and maybe you can help me answer that question a bit better.

I so enjoyed that Christian mentioned that she listens to the Pantsuit Politics podcast. I listen to it as well and appreciate political female viewpoints from the Left and the Right.
C. S. Lewis’ space trilogy totally covers the whole aliens thing. I don’t know why it never seems to be referenced. It did an excellent job of asking the questions we all think about and addressing the worries that crop up. Granted, the science is weak but the Theology isn’t.
Three things to consider about it.
1.) The Bible is about God’s relationship with us humans. It’s not about God and animals, or God and another species. The text wasn’t talking to them. Like Skye is always saying, don’t try and make it answer questions it didn’t want to. It was written to people who wouldn’t have known Aliens so it wouldn’t have had to mention them.
2.) Who says that they alien’s would have fallen? Maybe the Aliens didn’t actually fall to sin like we did. They could not be under a curse like us. Wouldn’t that be interesting? To interact with a race that wasn’t fallen in nature.
3.) In the image doesn’t necessarily mean physical form. I’ve always understood it to mean more of our spiritual image than our two arms, two legs, ears and nose thing. God is not a man, he’s not bound to a physical form, let alone a physical realm like us.
And if there are aliens, if they have fallen, why should their story look identical to ours? Should they be in the image of God (in the spiritual or physical sense, or whatever) then surely they would have been saved as well by Christ (think Narnia and Aslan. Looks similar to ours and yet is different.) Again, C. S. Lewis totally has this. 😉 He did an excellent job in discussing this and showing why it should not in any way destroy the Christian faith.
Wonder Woman’s armpits belong to a real, modern actress who probably shaves without thought. It probably never occurred to her, or anyone on the set that that shouldn’t be a thing. I highly doubt it was something she was forced to do and probably something she chooses to do of her own free will.
