Skye is not convinced that Job was a historical character? Excuse me? And how could you two let THAT slip without demanding him to elaborate? Job was INDEED an Historical Biblical character, Skye. Can’t just pick which parts of the Bible you want to believe… it’s not a buffet… it’s either all true or none of it is!
Chad, Skye is not picking out parts of the Bible to believe. He’s simply stating that its not necessary for Job to have been a real person for the Bible to still be trustworthy. It could very well just be a story with a Truth about God behind it.
I think they skimmed that because the topic has already been discussed in the podcast a couple times. If I remember correctly, episode #123 covered it in-depth.
Hi friends! I just wanted to say thank you! I look forward to your show every week. I am a young mom of 2 girls and I work part time as the Children’s Director at Summit Church in OKC OK and I’m working toward a degree in theology and Christian ministries. I’ve lived here in Oklahoma for most of my life and around here we get a very southern/conservative view of scripture, politics and life in general. I find myself leaning toward the conservative side of things but after listening to your show for the last couple years I’m realizing I’ve put God in a right wing box. Thank you for your honesty, even when you all talk about things I disagree with it’s done in a way that is humorous and easy to listen to so that I can see another perspective with out feeling insulted.
Phil I subscribe to Jelly telly and I LOVE IT! I learn things from the shows as much as my kids do! My oldest is 5 and already asks loads of questions while watching what’s in the bible. I’m excited to see the family devotionals, we will definitely use them!
Sky your thoughtful perspective on the bible, politics, the church and other things encourages me to think beyond culture when studying the word and meditating on the Holy Spirit. I downloaded the first two chapters of your new book and I love it! My best friend and I just finished reading through Numbers, Leviticus and Hebrews. She read Lev. and Num. and I read Hebrews and we compared. Now we are reading Acts. Your book has given us a ton of talking points to go through as we read, I can’t wait to read the rest of it!
Christian you are someone I would want to have leading my women’s bible study! Your bubbly personality is so warm and comforting and you ask the perfect questions when Phil and Sky start getting into really deep theological or scientific things that I don’t understand.
You guys are wonderful! Thank you for all your hard work and honesty. May God guide you in all that you do!
