Hey ho – after much tweaking, What's in the Bible #3 has left the building! It's off to the duplicators and should be in stores before Father's Day. The fearsome beasts of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy have been slayed, and, hopefully, rendered at least moderately understandable for kids! (We'll see how that goes once they get to watch it, of course.)
Speaking of kids, we just picked up this great quote from a mom blog…
I need to tell Phil Vischer that my son pulled out the Bible from the hotel nightstand drawer and started reading. When I asked him if he was reading a particular passage, he said, “I’m reading Leviticus because Buck Denver’s going to talk about that in the next DVD and I want to be ready.”
Is that cool or what?
I'm off to write #4 – Joshua, Judges and Ruth are next!
Awesome! I’m so excited! (A lot less excited that we have to wait until JUNE!) I’ve already memorized the first DVD (Don’t judge me.) and at least the songs from the second.
Great quote, I love it. I love this project Phil. As always, best wishes (10 more to go!)
Wow – when I wrote that quote on my friend’s blog, I certainly didn’t expect to see it here.
My ten year old son was beyond thrilled to know that you had heard about him reading his Bible. You have rock star status in his eyes, and I couldn’t be more pleased that he’s chosen someone who serves the Lord with his talents as a role model.
One aspect that I really like about the DVDs is that they anticipate questions that a child, or even an adult for that matter, would ask about Scripture, and delivers the answer in a clear way, yet not so simplistic as to render it inaccurate. I have a kid who asks a lot of hard questions, and at times I’ve struggled with how to word my answers appropriately. You’re really making inroads with him as he learns about what God has to say about sin and redemption.
As my kids have watched the DVDs this past week, I’ve prayed over them that the truths they are learning would stay with them and guide them as they mature.
Thanks, Phil, and blessings on your ministry.
Susan
P.S. “The ponies” have become a running gag in the house.
The DVD’s came on Wed. and we’ve watched both of them (4 episodes) and my only disappointment is that I can’t order 3 through X. They are just excellent and as an adult I enjoy them as much as my 5 and 7 year old.
Something I’ve always appreciated about your productions is that you don’t dumb down the vocabulary for the kids. Of course like most I’m sure, I applaud the tackling of the whole Word (difficult parts included) and the overall cleverness and humor in the dialogue.
Bravo…5 stars…keep ’em coming!
God Bless
I am so glad to hear your new product is going so well.
God bless my friend. ^^
I think I should get this for my niece and nephew.
My kids, ages 5-10 all loved the first two so much it’s become at least a twice a week regular. This is huge because we normally don’t watch but maybe 4 DVD’s all week (no TV for us. I’m a horrible Dad I know! But my kids have gotten over it and we occasionally pop up a web episode of Phineas and Ferb after our daily JellyTelly fix! “Watcha Doin?”).
Anyway I decided to use this as a curriculam for my Middle School Sunday School class (we call ourselves the Soul Surfers. We don’t know what it means but it sounded really cool! We overlooked that we’re 10+ hours away from the closest surf!). I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they loved it. We now have three running gags!
1) The answer to any question is “Ponies” appropriately stated in an Aussie accent
2) You can start singing “I’ve got a book, it’s a bunch of books” and anyone within listening distance will finish the verse!
3) Anytime anyone says any word with more than one syllable starting with an “S” the appropriate response is “Bless you”. To which the appropriate reaction is “Stop it, I did not sneeze!”
Anyway, it’s been a big hit and it’s allowed me to teach deeply about our sin issue as man and why Jesus’s death means so much. I think we hear that so much growing up that it does get lost on us sometimes. And this “ground up” approach has helped me to explain it better to them.
Again, thanks alot for the truely awesome work. Can’t wait for #3!

Phil. Thank you. This a great resource for us! It is awesome to hear my 3 year old twins and 22 month old singing “Halleujah! Look what God can do!!” at the tops of their lungs everywhere we go (literally everywhere). I have felt that while Veggies Tales are fun and give some great principles, they don’t really teach the Bible. My kids still love them (and so do I), but What’s in the Bible is awesome! Thank you for what you do. My Dad (a seminary graduate and christian high school teacher) actually bought my copy of episode one off me this weekend so he could show it to his students. Amazing!

my boys just got #1 and #2 in their Easter baskets…. they have been watching them nonstop! My husband and I sat and watched with them and laughed just as hard as they did… the “what’s in the Bible” theme song has been sung in our van on the way to wherever we are going. The grown-ups favorite line is in #2 when Brother Louis scats the definition of substitutionary atonement… LOVE IT! The boys love “ponies!” Thanks so much, Phil, for plugging along… we love your stuff and can’t wait for the next installment!
Oh I can’t wait for this to come out. I am actually using it in my chapels at the Christian summer camp I will be running. How soon can you get number 4 out? =)
