Devotions! The kind you might have in the morning! Or not. Phil, Skye and Christian talk about daily devotions – what they do, what works for them, what might work for you, too. Also, Mel Gibson is back, Baptists forget who they are, and adult baby diapers. Not adult diapers. Baby diapers. For adults. Yeah, we donβt get it either.

Skye went to Miami! Who knew? I have been listening to the podcast for a year and didn’t realize Skye went to college in my home state!
Hi!
Speaking of adult diapers, i live in Japan. Yes, that’s the place that sells more adult diapers than baby ones. i just realized that someone from Japan moved to Wheaton recently, and thought you may want to have him on the show someday for his insight into Japanese culture, the dying population, and contextualizing the Gospel (AKA not making it seem like Japanese have to become Americanized or proselytized).
He’s a film maker and was a missionary to Japan… His name is Paul Nethercott.
Thanks for doing the show. More uke.
jeers. (i mean ‘cheers’)
I’ve just found your podcast (with video!) and it was a blessing to my morning.
I’ve been struggling with daily devotions since I had children (I have 3 now, ages 6, 4 and nearly 2). I’m not a morning person, so it was always hard doing it before the kids woke up (they usually are up before me). So I’ve been doing it in the evenings, basically last thing before bed. I’ve challenged the 2 teenagers that study the Bible with me to read a chapter a day, so one started in Luke, the other in Matthew, and I decided to read with them, so 2 chapters a day, in different books. it was actually really good!
But like Chris said, I recommend the accountability. I’ve made a hand made sheet for each to keep track of their readings, and made one for myself too. So when we cannot meet, we just exchange pictures of our sheets to see how we’re doing π And when we meet we go through the questions/comments. It’s been really nice.
But I still don’t know how to fit a kids devotions in my day. I know people who do table talks and it works, but my meal times are plain battle all the time (every meal, every day!)
Maybe subject for another podcast?! π
Thanks a million for this. And Phil, thank you for being honest in saying that it’s been on and off for you too.
