It's Friday morning, and here's the latest: As of mid-day yesterday, all our legal documents are approved! Yahoo! We're forming a new company called Jellyfish Media to take in the investment and launch JellyTelly. (This way Jellyfish Labs will still be free to create new ideas that aren't all tangled up with JellyTelly or the JellyTelly investment.) So Jellyfish Media is being formed today, but we can't yet except the investment funds because Jellyfish Media doesn't have a bank account. We'll sign the papers setting up the new bank account this afternoon.
So the soonest the funds can be wired into the new bank account is Monday, except, of course, for the fact that Monday is a bank holiday. Ha! So we're looking at Tuesday for funding.
So unless something very bad happens over the weekend or on Monday (which, considering the fact that the world financial system appears to be melting down and Iceland and California are both on the verge of bankruptcy, may not be entirely out of the question), it appears JellyTelly is officially a "go" and will be funded and operating next Tuesday. Can I get an 'amen'?
Tim and Bill are kicking butt with the demo site, which could be up and ready for a few of you to start testing within a week. Pretty cool, eh? I'm off to the studio to film some puppets saying things like "Coming up next…" and "Don't touch that dial!" Have puppets ever been given their own TV network before? I don't think so. History is being made here today!
Stay tuned for more…
AMEN, brother…AMEN!!
We cannot wait! My kids are very excited and so am I! yeah jellytelly!!!
I like the idea of two legal entities; that seems wise.

AMEN!!!!! and pass the cookies!!!!
oh… wait…. I guess the passing of cookies falls to ME, actually….
um….
well….
VIRTUAL cookies for all! Yeah!
Setting up a table with fancy tablecloth, The Cookie Lady lays out a spread of chocolate chunk cookies, snickerdoodles, peanut butter cup cookies, and lemon chess bars. Along with this she adds some blueberry muffins, banana bread, and coffee cake…. after all, there are coffee lovers in the crowd… oh! and to please that rascally pirate Captain Pete, she adds a lovely rum cake…. and to this spread she will include plates and napkins, and forks for those who simply have to have them…
Congrats to all in Jellyfish land! Go Tim! Go Bill! Go Liz! Go Phil! Go, Go, GO!
Will be covering the weekend and Monday with prayer, Mr. V. Concerning the financial state of the world and all, well, you’ve built your vision on the Rock, you know… it really doesn’t matter if the rest of the world is sinking sand. You will be fine.
Awesome. Amen and praise God.
It’s good to hear good news!
God bless and keep keeping the main thing the main thing.
Woohoo!!! Thank you Lord!
Thanks for keeping us updated Phil!
The waiting is so hard…must…have…jelly…
I don’t know if you care to divulge company procedures. But could you expound upon why Jellyfish Labs wouldn’t still be free to create new ideas that aren’t all tangled up with JellyTelly or the JellyTelly investment?
Thanks
I don’t know if you care to divulge company procedures. But could you expound upon why Jellyfish Labs wouldn’t still be free to create new ideas that aren’t all tangled up with JellyTelly or the JellyTelly investment?
The investors probably own an equity stake in the company. This means that anything produced by the company would be partially theirs, and doing certain things with it would require their approval. If they were to invest in Jellyfish Labs, that would restrict its ability to do other things in the future. Phil Vischer could still do them, but he’ll have to do them without using any Jellyfish Labs resources.
Instead, there are going to be two companies:
JellyTelly Media, which is investors invest in. This means they’ll own a piece of everything JellyTelly Media produces.
Jellyfish Labs, which will probably remain 100% Phil Vischer. If in the future Phil Vischer would want to do something without the investors, or which the investors don’t care about, he’ll be able to do it using Jellyfish Labs.
It might be, for example, that Jellyfish Labs owns the content production side of the business and JellyTelly Media owns the content distribution side (and buys videos from Jellyfish Labs, as well as other companies). This will allow Phil Vischer, in his capacity as Jellyfish Labs, to produce content that is targeted at adults, which JellyTelly Media would not be interested in buying.
Presumably, the contract with the investors includes a clause that says: “Phil Vischer won’t produce a five minute Buck Denver segment as Jellyfish Labs, sell it to JellyTelly Media (which he also controls) for almost the entire amount of the investment, and then have the money in his own company and be able to do anything he wants with it”, or words to that effect.
Hey Phil,
I just wanted to say that I was listening to Moody radio this morning and heard you on the inContext Show. What you talked about changed my perspective and my direction in life. What you said rang true to my life. Thank you for being humble enough to tell your story. God surely used you.
Unrelated. In 1990 I was starting my first year as a writer for WGN’s The Bozo Show. I wrote for three years. Now I work in compliance in the insurance industry, HA! Go figure.
I will pray for JellyTelly.
Peace!
Kurt
AMEN! I am so excited for this. Oh, and did you happen to mean ‘accept’ instead of ‘except’?
GO JELLY TELLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea! Praise the Lord!
AMEN!!!!
I’m very excited. I’m glad everything worked out. I look forward to seeing the new content.
You can get an Amen!

God!
AMEN baby!
=)
Absolutely!
(I suppose that the banks are celebrating Canadian thanksgiving! Finally, a Canadian holiday impacts the STATES for once!)
On a tangent… I realized something. When the markets crash, the Toronto Maple Leafs actually win hockey games!
I can’t wait to see the stuff you’ve got Phil!
GREAT idea with the two companies.
Wow, we are so excited. You know, with the markets crashing they say that those brave entrepreneurs who “zig when everyone else is zagging” will benefit most…now is the TIME to pursue these ideas (although it seems counterintuitive on the outset).
As for the puppets, I believe in equal rights and I believe they have experienced media discrimination for way too long.
Oh, and Spam, thanks for the clarification for us non-business people.
yes you can….. AMEN!!!!!!!! The Lord is good! my brothers are ecstatic!
Hoooooooooooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
That’s wonderful news, Phil! All the best with this new adventure. History IS being made right as we speak, and we are all helping it along.
Good idea with the separate entity business, too. That should save some potential issues down the track. You wouldn’t want to be wound up by stubborn investors 🙂
God Bless,
Anthony.
Our family is so thrilled that there will be a place for healthy, God filled programming on a regular basis. I am excited that I don’t have to say “You’re not allowed to watch that”…now we’ll all watch.
Thank God that you all stepped out in faith.
the deJongs in Canada
Amen!!!
I can hardly wait. I am so excited for you
THANK GOD!!!
*squee* this is so exiting! I CAN”T WAIT. THIS IS GONNA BE OFF THE CHAIN YO!!!

So is tomorrow the big day (sort of) yeah?
vmsnvisions.orgHello Phil,
In order to support what you’re doing, it would be helpful to have a download &/or DVD of the long (but very nice) JellyTelly video. How to get that? Esp. as busy as you are….
We have ~ 120 churches in our 4 city area, not sure how many would be interested in a 1 minute, 2 minute, 5, or the whole Enchilada video, but would be good to be prepared to have this to show.
The weblinks can be sent of course, but I’ve found that showing up at a church with the “normally accepted length” of video that they like, via a real person talking to the staff…. this seems to work a lot better.
I hesitate on adding the website (not trying to spam-advertise here…) but thought I would to show my appreciation of what you’ve done & let you know I mentioned a bit of what you’ve said in one of my essays on the site. I sent a thank you/ appreciation/encouragement to Big Idea some time ago, but I’m doubting you ever got it…. wanted to make sure you got it this time.
Thanks for all you do,
Keith
